Skip the maintenance and even the best flooring wears out early. Most flooring warranties, including ours, require you to follow basic care and maintenance guidelines to stay valid. The good news is proper floor maintenance takes minutes a week, not hours.
Every floor we sell, whether hybrid, laminate, timber, vinyl or bamboo, comes with a wear warranty. That warranty only holds if the floor has been maintained properly. Grit left on the surface acts like sandpaper underfoot, harsh chemicals strip protective coatings, and excess water can reach the subfloor through seams and joints. None of this is complicated to avoid, but it does need to be routine.
Sweep or vacuum regularly, damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner, and never use a steam mop, since heat and moisture can warp the layers. For the full daily and weekly routine, see our complete hybrid flooring cleaning guide.
Dry sweep or vacuum first to avoid grinding grit into the surface, then use a barely damp mop. Standing water is laminate’s biggest enemy, so wipe spills immediately. Browse our laminate flooring range.
Use an electrostatic mop or soft-bristle broom for daily dust, and a manufacturer-approved timber floor cleaner for deeper cleans. Never wet-mop timber. Fit felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. See our engineered oak range.
Sweep or vacuum, then mop with a mild detergent and warm water. Avoid abrasive scrubbers and excessive water around seams. Explore our vinyl flooring range.
Sweep or vacuum often and use a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Bamboo needs very little upkeep compared with other timber-look options. See our bamboo flooring range.
Melbourne’s humidity shifts noticeably between seasons, and timber-based flooring responds to that shift. Rising humidity in summer can cause boards to expand slightly, while drier winter air can bring minor gaps as the timber contracts. This is normal, expected movement rather than a fault, and it’s one reason we leave an expansion gap around the perimeter at installation. Keeping indoor humidity reasonably stable, and avoiding sudden heating or cooling extremes, helps minimise this movement over time.
Regular care prevents most damage, but chips, deep scratches, water damage or loose boards need repair rather than cleaning. If your floor has damage beyond normal wear, our floor repair service can assess and fix it before it spreads.
Sweep or vacuum two to three times a week in high-traffic homes, and mop weekly or as needed.
Not on hybrid, laminate or timber flooring. Heat and moisture can warp the surface or damage the core.
Yes. Most flooring warranties, including ours, require basic care and maintenance to remain valid.
This is normal seasonal movement caused by lower humidity, and it typically closes up again as humidity rises.
Avoid wax, polish, oil-based cleaners, abrasive scrubbers and anything not labelled pH-neutral for your flooring type.
